Education and Inclusion of Local Communities near the rivers of Kalama (Ioannina, Thesprotia) and Ofanto (Canosa, Barletta), regarding the protection of Ecosystems in order to achieve an Upgraded Management and Sustainable Development in the Regions – “KALAMA POLLUTION”
The project aims in highlighting and explaining the ecosystems of internal-transitional waters, taking joint measures for protection, defining priority areas where development of additional programmes for management and protection are required. More specifically, the project aims in highlighting the particular cultural identity of both regions and their residents, familiarization and understanding the natural environment of those two regions and in the gradual initiation of the visitors shifting them from a superficial/shallow landscape feeling into the depths of the local society, its cultural legacy and its values.
